Ashton Broyld has been dismissed from the Syracuse football team for a violation of team rules, a press release confirmed on Tuesday.

Syracuse hybrid Ashton Broyld has been kicked off the team, according to a release from SU Athletics.

“Senior Ashton Broyld has been dismissed from the Syracuse football team for a violation of team policy, Orange head coach Scott Shafer announced today,” the statement said.

Broyld appeared in just four games last season due to injury and caught 15 passes for 174 yards. In 2013, Broyld led the Orange in receptions and receiving yards with 52 and 452, respectively.

The Rochester, New York native came to Syracuse in 2012 with high expectations as a four-star commit, but has shifted positions and lacked the offensive production that he seemed primed to find in his final season with Syracuse.

After his senior year at Rush-Henrietta High School, he attended the Milford (New York) Academy for a year before going to Syracuse.

Entering this year, he was listed third on the depth chart at the hybrid position behind sophomore Ervin Philips and junior Ben Lewis.
