Sweater Beats, Michael Christmas to perform at University Union’s first concert on Skybarn on South Campus

Electronic music producer Sweater Beats and hip-hop artist Michael Christmas will play at the Syracuse University’s Skybarn on Thursday, April 2, University Union announced on Twitter Thursday night. This is the first time University Union will hold a concert in the South Campus location.

Starting March 27, Syracuse University students and State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry students will be able to purchase tickets for $5 at the Schine Box Office.

Sweater Beats, the stage name of Filipino-American music maker Antonio Cuna, has been featured in magazine such as Billboard and Entertainment Weekly. The Brooklyn-based artist has been on two North American tours with artists Chance the Rapper and Chet Faker, according to a University Union press release.

He has had over 1 million SoundCloud plays on his September 2014 remix of Flume and Chet Faker’s hit “Drop The Game,” according to the press release. He will play alongside Paul McCartney, Steve Aoki and Snoop Dog at this year’s Firefly music festival in Delaware. He has also played at music festivals such as South by Southwest, Holy Ship and Mysterland, according to the press release.

Rapper Michael Christmas received national attention after being nominated for XXL’s 2015 Freshman list. The 20-year-old Boston native has been featured in publications such as Complex, Hypetrak and Pigeons and Planes. He released his “Is this Art?” mixtape in 2014, according to the UU press release.

University Union announced the concert on the heels of its final Bandersnatch Concert that featured hip-hop artists Isaiah Rashad and Pell. UU will also host May Fest and Block Party in April.
