Syracuse and Cornell squared off in the season opener last year, and will battle again in the Carrier Dome this December.

Syracuse will host Cornell in the Carrier Dome on New Year’s Eve, SU Athletics announced Friday morning.

The longtime Central New York foes have met 119 times, with the Orange holding an 88-31 edge in the rivalry. Although the Big Red won eight of the first 11 matchups, SU has won the last 34. Colgate is the only opponent Syracuse has played more games against.

The Orange and Big Red squared off in the season opener a year ago. Though Cornell jumped out to a lead as big as 14 in the first half, Syracuse rallied back to win, 80-62, and embark on its program-record 25-0 start to the season.

Cornell finished 2-26 on the year. The time of the game has not been announced.
