Preseason AP Poll puts 3 Syracuse opponents in Top 25
Three of Syracuse’s 2014 opponents cracked the Top 25 as the Associated Press released its first poll of the college football season on Sunday.
That includes No. 1 Florida State, which the Orange will play in the Carrier Dome on Oct. 11, No. 16 Clemson, which SU will travel to on Oct. 25, and No. 17 Notre Dame, which will meet Syracuse at MetLife Stadium on Sept. 27.
The poll is strikingly similar to the USA Today Amway Coaches Poll, which was published on July 31. One of the most noticeable differences is that FSU has a stronger grip on the No. 1 spot in the AP Poll. The Seminoles collected 56 of 62 first-place votes in the coaches poll, and 57 of 60 in the AP.
Syracuse opens its season against Villanova on Aug. 29 in the Carrier Dome at 7:30 p.m.
